Advising

Open Positions and Academic Advising

I have research projects for graduate and undergraduate students. Undergraduate students must be currently enrolled at the University of Houston. Graduate students need to apply to the graduate program of the Department of Mathematics. More information about the program and the requirements to obtain a PhD degree from our department can be found here. Information on how to apply to our PhD program can be found here. Contact the graduate studies director listed on this page for more information. Only contact me directly if (i) you are already enrolled in the program or (ii) you want to work with me and have specific questions about my research. Information about current research directions of my group can be found here.

I do not have any positions or financial support for research or teaching assistants for students that are not enrolled in our PhD program. Please refrain from sending me any requests. I generally do not respond to emails enquiring for these types of positions due to the volume of requests I receive.

Letter of Recommendation Requests

Letters of recommendation take time. Please allow at least one week to complete your request. This may take longer depending on the volume of requests received. To expedite the process, please email me with the following information:

  1. Your name and email address
  2. Due date for the letter
  3. Year in school and intended major
  4. Purpose of the letter (e.g., graduate school admission, scholarship, award, job application)
  5. How do you know me? Which of my courses did you take and when?
  6. How long have we known each other?
  7. Your future plans and goals
  8. Relevant organizations, clubs, activities, and any leadership roles
  9. Any accomplishments, honors, or awards
  10. Your resume/CV (attached as PDF)

Please include all of this in a single email to avoid unnecessary back-and-forth.
